Updates on the Odin 90

February 2008

Production samples of this 90-size machine have now been released. First impressions conclude that this is a very light machine for a 90-size with a take-off weight a little over 4kg. This means that it isn't necessary to push the engine to the absolute limit to get the performance required even for the most demanding 3D manoeuvres.

With a short main shaft, the Odin comprises a high centre of gravity (CofG) design with the CofG closer to the aerobatic centre. This results in 3D manoeuvres that are faster and require less effort on the part of the machine and servos. It also inherits the proven rotor head and tail design from the Knight 3D meaning that control and accuracy will compete with the best designs available on the market today.

Furthermore, the low CofG design results in a machine that is no higher than a conventional 50 size helicopter, combined with a sleek design, this results in a machine that's provides not only increased fast forward flight but improved stability in windy conditions. The fuel tank is also positioned directly under the main shaft meaning that altering fuel levels will not affect the CofG.

Other features:

• Electric fan cooling system freeing up lost power due to excessive heat;
• Reversed clutch stack;
• Shared shaft CCPM layout;
• Anti-vibration engine mounts as proven on the knight 3D;
• Direct single stage belt drive for tail offering the best balance between durability and performance; and
• Front mounted tail servo.
