Flying the Beam E4

Out of the box, the Beam E4 runs silky smooth and is noticeably quieter than all its popular rivals! The suggested head-speed range starts at 2300rpm for hovering and up to 3000rpm for 3D flying. At 2300 on the head, the Beam is extremely quiet and much more sedate for those seeking an easier going experience. With a hot motor set-up and the head-speed cranked up to 3000 rpm, the Beam E4 remains perfectly stable and smooth in the hover until you touch the sticks. The model then reacts like a lightning bolt to both collective and cyclic control inputs.

For those of us who are on the mature side of life, I would recommend you start with around 30% expo to tame the Beam around centre-stick and be prepared for a 4-5 min Adrenaline rush! In stock set-up and at high head-speed, the E4 is a highly exciting offering well suited to the modern aggressive 3-D flying style.

The model clearly lapped up everything that I could throw at it and even the most eager of ‘reaction junkies’ would certainly enjoy tick-tocking the Beam E4 back and forth at a speed close to a blur!
